It seems to me that there are only two important stages of elections in any country. And the second stage always follows from the first over time.
- When it is important that everyone votes.
- When it no longer matters who and how voted. Everything will be announced for you. America has already failed the first stage.
8
u/Soren_Camus1905 10h ago
Ehhh
It’s more like the last, desperate attempt of a takeover.
Republicans know Trump is old and dying and no other member of the party commands the loyalty of support that he does.
Say the worst case scenario happens? Midterms are suspended. Then what?
Things just continue to get worse and worse, republican support erodes more and more. Eventually the dam will break.
Things may get worse before they get better, and as usual the working class will pay the price, but this is an acknowledgement of what we all knew, they are out of ideas and out energy. And that the Republican Party has no future.
It’s the last spasm of a soon to be rotting carcus.

u/PatientHelicopter123 11h ago
In 2024 - 160 MM did not vote for him. He only got 1/3 of the electorate.
Trump J. D. Vance Republican 77,304,296 49.70%
Kamala D. Harris Tim Walz Democratic 75,019,682 48.23%
Jill E. Stein Rudolph T. Ware, III Green 881,909 0.57%
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Nicole Shanahan Independent 757,369 0.49%
Total voter turnout was approx. 60%
Per the census there were approx. 230 million eligible voters in the US in 2024
Anyone who sat out the last election (all 80 or so million) need to be shamed. Voting is the single MOST important constitutional requirement of being a US citizen. You all suck, you allowed this to happen. The other 33 million idiots who believe the orange dickhead are beyond reason and redemption.

It was found Elon committed voter fraud in georgia, his American PAC submitted pre-filled absentee ballot applications. Which is illegal to do unless you are an authorized relative of the individual.
So yeah, I highly doubt anything would have been different if the people who didnt vote that time had. It was definitely rigged.
33
u/Zestyclose_Bit_9459 6h ago edited 5h ago
THIS! Why are PACs even handling ANY absentee ballots at ANY POINT in the voting process??? This must change to where ballots are issued ONLY by each state's voter registrar office.
BTW: the Georgia Election Board (right-leaning) just slapped Musk's PAC on the wrists. For Elon, that solved absolutely nothing--he'll do it again if he gets back in Trump's graces (they're not good.)
15
u/People-Pollution5280 4h ago
PACs shouldn't exist to begin with

Some GOP states want to make this illegal- just like giving water to people in the line, etc. GOP is focused on making the voting lines as long as possible and screwing with people’s lives instead of making voting easier. They wanna make it tedious - knowing that many people just give up or won’t give up two hours standing in line to vote.
Americans who don’t vote get the government they deserve-but it unfortunately screwed the rest of us that care.
3
u/Mrs_SmithG2W 8h ago

Not just that, but registering now means you have to check your registration status often between now and November. It’s not unusual for states to purge voter rolls (people die, people move away from state etc.) but sometimes they can purge with a heavy hand and can “accidentally” purge people who aren’t supposed to be purged.

There’s no statistical way Trump won all swing states and counties. And won’t them all just above recount thresholds. It would be 1x10-26 for that to happen.
Elon and Putin helped him steal the 2024 election. He’s so but hurt about 2020 because he rigged it in his favor and lost due to mail in ballots for covid. He can’t let it go and believe he’s a loser. Significant chance he didn’t actually win 2016 either. He was ready to lose when he ended up winning and he was surprised.

You’ve describe the “strategy” of his entire cabinet. They know they will see prison if objective investigative law returns to the land. As such, they believe they don’t have anything to lose and will lie, steal, cheat, and murder to protect themselves. They care about themselves only, not even each other they just happen to be aligned at the moment, and there is no line too far nor atrocity too great for them to not cling to their power and self-preservation.

This is the next logical thing he could do, since he is clearly not going to be able to get something through Congress that has a veneer of legitimacy. If he issues an executive order and it's shot down by the courts, he'll have no choice but to go the national emergency/Martial law route. One way or the other, he's going to do something substantial to subvert the selections because he knows there's a good chance the Democrats will take control of Congress and he will be impeached and convicted.

it was never a foregone conclusion that he was going to run for president in 2024. he only ran because the law was catching up with him in 2022, and there was a chance, however distant, that he would face accountability and go to prison.
so he did what really any of us in that situation would do, and ran for president. now his only move, really, is to fix the midterms or else the path to prison suddenly reappears.
8
u/biscuitchan 10h ago

If midterms are somehow prevented or controlled, this could very well end up being the start of a civil war. Tensions are at all time highs between political parties with lives being taken almost daily by government agents, and the only reason it hasn't completely gone up in flames is that people are waiting for midterms in hopes of impeachment and removal through the proper processes and I just don't see it happening.
This man has openly "joked" about being a fascist, a dictator, and "no more elections" and has already attempted to overthrow the government by attacking the capitol to prevent the transfer of power, we all saw it live on TV... Now he has even more unchecked power and even more radicalized followers. He will not go peacefully unless it's in his sleep.

Any attempt to take to federalize elections would be considered unconstitutional....states have control over how they are done says so in the constitution...and if SCROTUS allows it the we are no longer a Constitutional Republic.
