u/Streetlgnd 11h ago

So was the bird 2 seconds earlier

u/mls1968 10h ago

Imagine dying because you scared a bird shitless, and the bird shit caused your tire to slide out from under you….

u/JeanArtemis 7h ago

I once ate shit riding so bad that I got permanent scarring all across my left shoulder and upper arm from sliding along the ground like a damn curling iron and when I went back to figure out what I hit, I found a squashed slug. I literally skidded out on a fucking slug. Couldn't have hit the thing if I'd been aiming. Stay safe out there y'all and wear your helmet.

u/mediocre_morning 10h ago

This is exactly what he’s thinking

u/SquatSquatCykaBlyat 7h ago

Tbf if the guy fell it would have been a pretty good deterrent.

I had an older friend try something similar, except he fell and crushed his nuts when he crash-landed on the bike. I never wanted to do anything like that (I did laugh at him, though).

u/polyploid_coded 11h ago

I appreciated that instead of screaming down the bridge it looked like the biker waited a sec to make sure this guy on the bridge was aware

u/VTcamperguy 10h ago

It could have also been the fact that there was the arm mechanism and the whole ass raised bridge less than 10’ from the end of that arch.

u/Huge_Cranberry_409 10h ago

That's was my thought, too, when he hit the top.

"Well he's up there, dunno if he saw the frickin' drawbridge is up. NOW how's he gonna get down?"

u/kgb4187 9h ago

I think he can only do it when the bridge is up on account of no oncoming traffic to build up speed.

u/machisuji 9h ago

Yeah he mentions it while talking through things as well that he waited specifically until the boat is going through (so that the bridge is up).

u/kgb4187 8h ago

Nice! As a simple American I could only understand him talking about the pigeon, which I appreciated.

German in Sønderborg, Denmark.

u/DoubleNo6724 11h ago

Germans love dying in Denmark, but it's usually the sea that gets them

u/fruitslayar 10h ago

Not just Denmark, dying abroad doing stupid shit is an important part of our culture.

Goes all the way back to Barbarossa.

u/Skumsenumse 8h ago

This is insensitive as fuck, so I apologise in advance, but I have heard people here in Denmark say that "It's not summer until a German has drowned on the West Coast". So yeah...

So at least the Healthcare is free in case he does end up disabled?

u/DexJedi 11h ago

The healthcare is "free" to a certain extend regardless of what caused it. He could be fined for doing something illegal though, as I can not imagine this to be legal. But that has no connection to the healthcare.

People are really doing stupid stuff to get attention. Climbing buildings for a netflix film. And stuff like this. We should not encourage it, but here I am commenting.

u/PaidUSA 9h ago

Comparing this guy to Alex Honnold is like comparing the guy who blew himself up in his homemade rocket to the Apollo program. Honnold has done one of if not the single greatest physical feats in human history free soloing el cap, and got legal permission and months of buildup and prep to climb the building. An easy climb for him.

→ More replies (1)

u/tomtraubert2009 9h ago

In fairness to Honold, he didn't just climb Taipei 101 for a Netflix film like he hadn't climbed anything before. In fact, Taipei 101 might well have been one of his easier ones.

You are breaking at least 5 laws and 30 bones if you do that.

u/Spiritchaser84 10h ago

I'll say the only redeeming fact in the attempt is that traffic is completely stopped due to the drawbridge being up and he did it on the side with no traffic underneath. I've seen other idiots with similar bridge stunts and they do it with moving traffic underneath. In those situations, if the idiot falls, not only do they injure/kill themself, they also are likely to cause a major traffic accident. It's one thing to be an idiot and risk yourself. It's infinitely worse if you involve other people in your idiocy.

u/GraveKanra 10h ago

Because there werent any pedestrians around /s. He is going down a steep slope with a kid to his left. There were so many horrible outcomes not only for him, but also the people around.

u/Bobmotion 8h ago

This is from Sønderborg in Denmark. I grew up there. This bridge is iconic for attracting stupid ideas. We had a thing getting super drunk and then walking, and eventually crawling, over that exactly same side. A friend of mine broke an arm, both collarbones and cracked a rip trying to skateboard down it. Not from the very top, but enough to be considered extremely stupid.

Oh, the sweet memories of life before smart phones and social media.

u/Doppelgen 11h ago

Sorry but I have to downvote this post as in this context "Never give up" is the worst advice possible.

u/Tybald-the-owl 10h ago

I agree. In the worst case, he could have endangered people/cars under him and his own life of course. He shouldn‘t have attempted it in the first place. Sure, he succeeded. But was it worth it? Probably no. I hope he got arrested for such a stunt.

u/SilentSentinal 8h ago
