OMFG the Mr. Bean movie was my fave movie growing up & this scene is so hilarious. Me and my late brother used to quote scenes & always say “Bean” super pronounced like he does. Thank you for posting this gif dude 🫶 Gonna watch it again to relive those memories. He passed a year ago on the 11th so it’s been rough but sometimes all it takes is a random Mr. Bean gif to remind you of the good times get you through it lol

My favourite is when he shows the painting to the other guy (forgotten his name) and he's screaming bloody murder and trying to basically squeeze himself out the tiny window in horror.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you have some Bean to help remind you of good times. I was planning on having "coffee with my grandpa" tomorrow morning (I've got some ashes in a small urn). Maybe I'll watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail too. He got a real kick out of it.

I know more than a few people that "always" do something one way until suddenly they've always done it a different way. Always ate store brand sour cream but they were sold out so they got Daisy once 3 weeks ago and now that's the kind they "always" get. How do you not know that they changed it? Why are you acting like this isn't how it's always been? What do you mean, 6 months ago I got mad that you brought home a specific item because they were out of the usual? You're just out to ruin dinner with the way you can't even pay attention to this one thing.

My mom rearranges where things go in the kitchen every once in a while. She'd tell me and my siblings where something went and make a big commotion about it. Then one day, 4 years later, she'll just...move it. Instead of the cabinet next to the stove, it now goes in the corner.
My dad feels like he is losing his mind. Apparently, she's now rearranging more often.

u/Horskr 51m ago
My wife's running stock of where everything is is like a superpower.
The funniest one was she was visiting her parents and I needed a paperclip for something, so I texted her asking if she knew if we had any paperclips anywhere.
She was like "Yeah there is one on the ground next to the back right leg of the couch." So I looked, and sure enough there it was. I sent a picture of it and was like, "okay you can't get annoyed ever when I ask you where something is professor x" lol. She said she saw it when vacuuming and had meant to pick it up after.

Im just confused why OP needs anything clarified. Butter is butter, sour cream is sour cream, there's not exactly a huge variety to either product. Only place you could maybe fuck up is buying salted vs unsalted butter for baking purposes. As far as I can tell, there's 2 dumb people in this screenshot.
37
u/Bitter_Sense_5689 2h ago
The answer is whatever she usually buys. If you need to clarify salted versus unsalted, ask that specifically.
7
u/jld2k6 2h ago
My ex once sent her sister out to grab unsalted butter and she came back with salted, so she left with the unsalted butter and returned it and came back with the exact same kind of unsalted butter again lol. Clearly OP knows their mom well enough to know that buying whatever will be technically right, but it will just create more commotion once they get home. It won't be like "here's your butter and sour cream, YOU deal with it now" ... it won't be the end of it for them.

Its in the butter section but not labeled as it. Its in stick form so it looks like what people think of as butter. For me, I started buying real butter for cooking eggs in but would use margarine to save money on other things where it didnt make as much difference.

Just regular butter sticks and a basic tub of sour cream. Looks like she doesn't care what brand or she'd specify. I'd say 4 sticks salted butter and a 8 or 16 oz container of sour cream is the norm. If she's your mom you probably see what she usually gets since you see it in her fridge.

If you don't live with your mom and don't know what kind she would want, then it's understandable. But if you still live at home with her then you should know what kind of butter and sour cream is usually in your fridge, that I'm assuming you eat.
I can tell you from experience that living with someone who's incapable of knowing what stuff we usually buy or just making a decision on their own is infuriating on its own.

u/TiltedLama 3h ago
Are you serious? How hard is it for a (I assume) grown-ass man to read a grocery list? Does he need help to tie his shoes too?
77
u/Qaeta 3h ago
Usually this comes as a result of the requestor having specific brand preferences vs the shopper not really caring about brand and just seeing "butter". If the shopper has been burned by bringing, for example, the wrong butter home before, they'll be a lot more paranoid about fucking it up on other items, and need more information to ensure compliance.
Personally, I think if someone cares about brand that much, they should be including that information in the shopping list. My shopping lists always include brand (if I care) in addition to minimum quantity, and I'm the one doing the shopping too. Can't imagine giving someone else a list without that info and then getting mad about what they bring back.
22

This is exactly it.
The eternal argument with my wife is that she won't believe that I don't read minds. For us this isn't specifically about groceries. We both know what groceries to get. But in other contexts, she seems legitimately perplexed that I did not do a thing that she never once asked me to do. What's worse, she seems just as perplexed that she doesn't read minds either. She regularly ignores what I say in English because she imagines that what I really want must something different from what I said.

As someone in the grocery business for 10 years… You don’t wanna know. The amount of grown men that have seemingly never been in a grocery store especially the produce section is INSANE. Not knowing what green onions or a zucchini is. I get a lot of “is this guy serious?” questions.
Go easy on em though. Most dudes I’ve ran into that are obviously not the usual shopper are trying their best and want to be right. Some legitimately stressed out. Sometimes they are so noticeably stressed and confused I tell them “just give me the list I gotchu” then do it myself.
