Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.
Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Can I just say that it was such a joyous fucking moment to see your school's name? Or hear it on the radio? (Holy fuck I sound old).
Honestly, I kinda feel bad that my kids won't get that moment themselves.
Maybe I'll just take their phones... 👀

I actually didn’t know any very well or keep up with their later lives.
I also wanted to add a bonus question. Would anyone guess you were goth back then from knowing you today?

35F here and I don't seek out new music. Occasionally I stumble upon something I like, but I mostly listen to various genres from the 1980s- 2010s. Am I missing out? I remember making fun of my mother for this, but I get it now.

I think that millenials were the first generation to normalize saying no to forced social interactions. At first it seemed empowering, but I feel like it's gone too far.
I was talking to other millenials about my gripe with grocery store self checkouts, and the overwhelming majority of them said they are in favor of them because they can't deal with more social interactions that come with going to a cashier.
For one, there is very little social interaction needed when getting rung up for groceries.
Secondly, is this really how far we want to take this? I'm with you if there's a party you don't want to go to on your only free weekend for the month. Or a work happy hour you would rather not deal with. But saying hello to a cashier and them maybe making a comment about one of your purchases? I think you can handle that as your only social interaction of the day.

In short it spoke to the struggles of emotional and mental health; the personal issues that many of us were going through at the time. For example, Dairy of Jane and Youth of the Nation hit way too close to home because the things that those songs spoke of were happening to me in some form or another and I didn't know how to fully process it at least openly. Now thanks to it I can be open.

I’m a 33 year old 1993 millennial. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2014 and have just basically accepted that my life is at home with my parents and things can be good. I see and talk to my parents daily, got to chat with my Dad this evening for an hour while we watched Big Bang Theory which is a usual thing. Worked for 3 hours delivering for a food delivery app. All is good. Anyone else have a life like myself where you don’t really have the bills others do and you get by on limited income while also still living with your aging parents and are still happy with your situation in life?
